About
The Stochastic Oscillator compares the close to the recent high-low range. %K is the raw reading. %D is a moving average of %K. A longer lookback or extra smoothing reduces noise.
Turns from the 20 area (oversold) or the 80 area (overbought), and %K/%D crosses, are the usual reads. In a strong trend the oscillator can ride the extreme.
In a mix, pair stochastic crosses with a trend filter (EMA, ADX) or a volume confirm so you are not fading every range tick.
